DBS designed and developed an integrated application system to manage ordering, shipping, tracking, loss and damage control, and delivery of five hundred million dollars worth of relief supplies to distressed populations in over sixty countries around the world. This distribution tracking and commodities inventory system allows the largest private voluntary organization in the world to successfully handle approximately eighty-five percent of all U.S. relief shipments overseas.
DBS was selected as the primary outside contractor responsible for the development and implementation of an international inventory system for a major beverage manufacturer. The system tracks international sales and production of hundreds of products in almost every country throughout the world. It also provides budget vs. actual vs. plan reports, and handles forecasting, market analysis, and trend analysis functions as well. Although internal estimates projected an eighteen month development period, DBS completed, tested, and delivered the system in half that time.
DBS was retained by a Fortune 100 company to develop a system to support cash management activities in the trading room of its treasury operations area. The system manages billions of dollars, through a complex variety of overnight and short term debt instrument transactions.
The leasing arm of a large auto manufacturer retained DBS to handle the conversion of their lease accounting system across disparate mainframe environments.
A consortium of realtors on the New Jersey shore retained DBS to create a system which would improve their shared-listing rental property reservation activities. Having tens of thousands of properties for rent, and many co-listed agencies involved, made matching customer needs, preferences and reservation management extremely difficult. DBS designed, developed and hosted this system which provided property search, selection, and reservation functions, and eliminated the problems of inter-agency notifications and double-booking. The system also created rental agreements, tracked sales and commissions, and generated property owner income statements for tax purposes.
DBS designed, developed, and supports a comprehensive system for college and university administration called CAPS. Its functional components address the needs of the institution from the enrollment management and admissions phase, through on-line registration, academic advising, financial aid processing, generation of rosters, bills, academic status reports, report cards, transcripts, graduation and alumni management. DB Systems has provided ongoing development and hosted support of this CAPS system for its clients since the 1970’s.
DB Systems has provided local municipal governments with critical infrastructure and software support for several key recordkeeping functions including a comprehensive real property assessment and tax collection system. The system provides for storage, modification, and inquiry access to all pertinent real property data. Security features restrict access to appropriate personnel in the building department, assessor's office, and the tax department. Tax rolls, bills, and a variety of reports are generated from the database, and receivable update and tracking functions are also provided.
DBS designed and developed a genetic screening program for the National Genetics Foundation. The application enabled the organization to process family health profiles which relate information about genetic markers and diseases in the participants family trees. Analysis and reports were produced to indicate potential problem areas for the individuals and their potential offspring. The data store also provided a significant source of research data for disease and population studies.
DBS created a complete software system to manage the affairs of in-home patient care providers for the Visiting Nurse Services organization. When a doctor prescribes some form of therapy for a patient in their home, the service provider creates an account for the patient, dispatches appropriate personnel at specified intervals, and bills the proper organization(s). The system tracks admissions status, care plan, billing information, visitation records, medications, employee time, mileage, and fees, receivables status, and generates reports on staff activity, financial registers, automated physicians orders, and state required patient/visit statistics.
